Values-in-Action (VIA) offers students the platform to demonstrate their values in service learning projects that benefit the community.
As part of Edgefield’s 10th Anniversary, students have initiated a total of 42 service learning projects to benefit and engage the community. Students exercise autonomy over their choice of social issues ranging from ageing to poverty and conservation to inclusiveness, and rally their peers in their advocacy work. Students take ownership of their own projects, and are mentored by teachers and community partners. They organise themselves in the research, execution and reflection phases of the projects. More than just the provision of a platform to display personal values, VIA gives the students a chance to meet the needs of the community.
